During a press conference held on Thursday, 16 April by the Minister of Finance and the Parliamentary Secretary for Financial Services and Digital Economy, a government interest rate subsidy of up to 2.5% on bank loans was announced.
Merchant Shipping Notice (Transport Malta)

On April 3, 2020 Transport Malta in its Merchant Shipping Notice 160 announced that the Merchant Shipping Directorate decided to defer the due payment date of the relevant Registration Fees and the Annual Tonnage Tax of merchant ships in cases when the anniversary date falls on or after 1 April 2020. The deferral period is of three months from the anniversary.

Malta Enterprise extends deadlines Incentives and Measures

Malta Enterprise has responded to the ongoing outbreak of COVID-19 and introduced new measures and extended deadlines of incentives administered by Malta Enterprise. These came along with the measures that the Maltese government announced last week.
On March 17, the Merchant shipping Directorate of Transport Malta announced three extraordinary measures in view of the current COVID-19 pandemic.
The outbreak of COVID-19 has affected also the timing of the regulatory reporting. Given this situation the Malta Financial Services Authority (“MFSA”) has published a circular which informs that MFSA will be accepting a delay from the reporting deadline for some of the submissions/publications falling due by March or April 2020. Further delays may be acceptable depending on the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Due to the recent Coronavirus outbreak, Malta Enterprise introduced a new scheme supporting enterprises to invest in new teleworking arrangements.
